Summary
There was a big white pit bull in the backyard. I put my hand down to pet it. At first it nuzzled my hand but then it grabbed my finger in its mouth not too rough, but not letting go. I was frightened, but I didn't want to panic. It's okay, I said.

Blurbs
the effect of the green and red is so good because it's like following a blood trail in the grass that leads you through the story.

Pit Bull Eyes is becoming so eerie! What makes it that way is the change in the boy that comes in such a slow and beautiful way.

Reviews
If I had to pick just one standout of all these new offerings, it would probably be this eerily haunting, yet also bizarrely reassuring, dreamlike watercolor meditation on --- well, on precisely what the title says. The red clearly and obviously signifies blood, the verdant green evokes nature, the physical transformations that take place could be seen as metaphors for any number of things, and the intentionally-obscured faces of the children in the story bring to mind the work of controversial photographer Michael Salerno. There's a HELL of a lot to "unpack" within the space of these 24 high-quality cardstock pages, and yeah, not all of the implications are entirely pleasant, but it does end on a playful and upbeat note that almost takes you aback until you realize it's actually sort of perfect, in its own way. One of the year's very best comics.
